Amino acid Analysis
- Order number: 103
With our amino acid measurement (order no. 103) free amino acids are measured, whereas with our total amino acid analysis (order no. 115) the total amino acid content is quantified, including additional HCl hydrolysis and sample preparation step before amino acid analysis. If you are interested in the ratio of free to bound amino acids, both analyzes should be carried out.
Our proprietary, quantitative UHPLC-DAD method covers the following free amino acids:

*Cysteine rapidly oxidizes to cystine. We will provide the absolute measured concentration of cystine, and a qualitative value for cysteine if detectable.
The average LOQ is <0.03 mM, depending on amino acid and sample matrix.
Usually a sample amount of 1 mg (if purity is > 80%) or 1 ml is needed for each analytical service. If you are limited in your sample amount please contact us. We are open to discuss smaller volumes. If you send frozen samples for more than one analysis, it would be desirable to ship them in aliquots, to prevent repeated freezing and thawing.
Due to potential matrix effects verification of sample feasibility might be necessary prior to analysis.
For Spent Media Samples:
- Samples can be spent cell culture media or cell culture supernatants.
- Please read and sign our sample declaration sheet.
- Prepare and ship your samples according to our sample preparation protocol.
For Food, Feed and other Samples:
- Samples can be liquid or powder. Please contact us for individual support regarding sample preparation.
- Please read and sign our sample declaration sheet.
For Metabolomic Samples:
- Samples can be cell lysates or supernatants. Please contact us for individual support regarding sample preparation.
- Please read and sign our sample declaration sheet.
